Sport for Business is launching a new regular feature series titled Take 3, designed to cut through the noise of sports marketing and focus on what really matters: what worked, why it worked, and what others can learn from it.

In a crowded sponsorship and activation landscape, brands are investing more than ever in sport, but too often the lessons learned are lost once the campaign ends.

Take 3 is about slowing that process down and extracting practical, transferable insight.

Each feature will examine one Irish or international sports marketing campaign and distil it into three clear learnings that sports marketers, rights holders, and decision-makers can apply elsewhere.

The Principle Behind Take 3

The premise is deliberately simple:

One campaign

Three insights

Rather than awards-led retrospectives or self-promotional case studies, Take 3 will take a Sport for Business lens — examining campaigns in terms of:

Strategic intent

Audience relevance

Execution quality

Commercial and reputational impact

Each piece will be written independently by Sport for Business, with insight drawn from public information, campaign outcomes and industry context.

The goal is not to judge creativity, but to understand effectiveness.

What Makes a Campaign Suitable?

Campaigns considered for Take 3 should demonstrate at least one of the following:

Clear innovation in sponsorship or activation

Strong alignment between brand, sport and audience

Purpose-driven work that feels authentic

Evidence of impact (engagement, reach, behavioural change, reputation shift)

They do not need to be big-budget or global. Some of the strongest learnings often come from focused, well-executed ideas.

How Brands and Agencies Can Submit Campaigns

Brands, agencies and rights holders are invited to submit campaigns for consideration.

Submissions do not guarantee inclusion. Editorial independence will be maintained, and Sport for Business will select campaigns based on relevance and learning value.

We look forward to hearing from you and bringing this feature to life.
