We continue our look at last month’s activity from the Irish sporting NGB’s on social media with a dive into Instagram this morning.

November 2024 Highlights on Instagram

 

 

Instagram activity fell 10% to 2,363 posts; however, engagements saw a significant 24% increase to 4.32 million.

The Instagram activity charts were once again topped by the League of Ireland with 378 posts (288 posts and 90 Reels), with Irish Rugby (189, +117%) in second, and Ireland Football (163, -22%) in third.

The Camogie Association (126, +207%) congratulated their Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Players of the Year, Swim Ireland (74, +174%) saw success at the Team Ireland Olympic Ball as Daniel Wiffen and Mona McSharry won the PTSB ‘Inspiring the Nation’ award , and Athletics Ireland (95, +121%) highlighted an amazing performance from Niamh Allen as she took Silver at a National Senior Cross Country Championships, just 3 months after daughter Lily arrived.

Irish Rugby (9,064, +88%) topped the average engagement per post chart, as they welcomed two new caps, and celebrated a record breaking achievement for Leinster’s Cian Healy as he became the most capped Irish man of all time, overtaking Brian O’Driscoll with 134 caps .

In second, Ireland Football (4,843, +23%) congratulated Katie McCabe as she won the FAI International Goal of the Year for this strike against Canada, and Dublin GAA (4,518, +94%) looked back at some unforgettable moments from James McCarthy’s 15 years in blue.

Badminton Ireland (123, +112%) bought us Nhat’s winning moment from the AIG Irish Open, and Horse Racing Ireland (746, +25%) celebrated County Kildare’s Robbie Dolan winning the Melbourne Cup on Knights Choice.

Claiming a hat-trick of titles for the second month in a row, the League of Ireland (4,468) claimed the top spot for ‘highest engagements per 1,000 followers’.

 

 

 

 

For the fourth month in a row, the power of Instagram collabs is highlighted, as Ireland Football’s collab post with Liverpool was the most engaged with content on Instagram in November, this data driven post celebrating Caoimhin Kelleher’s performance against Finland has generated over 150,000 public engagements to date.
