The two Junior Ministers of greatest importance to sport are Michael Ring at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and Tom Hayes at the Department of Agriculture where he is presently handling the recent Indecon report into the future of the Greyhound industry.
Both have been left in their respective positions providing good continuity of understanding within their Departments.
This will be welcomed by sport following Minister Ring’s assertion last week that if he was to stay in the role that he would push for a third round of sports capital grant funding.
So far in the lifetime of this Government that has delivered €70 million of funding towards key local and regional projects that have led to a significant upgrading of local sporting infrastructure.
