Katie Taylor returned home to Dublin Airport on Sunday evening to a large crowd of well wishers.  Early on Saturday morning she claimed her fourth consecutive World Championship in China and was also declared the best boxer of the AIBA tournament.
RTE covered both Friday’s Semi Final and Saturday’s Final live on RTE2 and Taylor will now head to the London 2012 Olympics as Ireland’s brightest medal prospect.
She has been much in demand among sponsors in the run up to the Olympics, starring in TV advertising fro Lucozade and being the Irish Olympic Ambassador for Procter and Gamble.  She is also, along with Paralympic Cyclist Mark Rohan, one of 11 athletes to feature as part of Sky TV’s Olympic programming.
The Leinster Rugby Team which became only the second team in history to defend the Heineken Cup on Saturday will parade the trophy at next week’s final of the RaboDirect Pro 12 tournament in the RDS.
