- The average Irish person spends 108 minutes a week watching live sport on TV.
- Men watch 141 minutes and Women 68 minutes
- Adults between 45 and 54 are the biggest consumers by age, watching an average 129 minutes a week.
- The Big Three sports dominate with Soccer claiming 47% of people being interested, Rugby 41%, Gaelic Football 34% and Hurling 31%.
- Swimming, running and cycling are the three most popular sports behind walking and general fitness with 26%, 22% and 18% respectively.
- 62% of parents think children do less physical exercise now than when they were young.
- 850,000 adults are members of gyms but 900,000 used to be but have now lapsed.
- 35% of adults are members of a GAA club.
- The Irish spend €2.4 Billion a year on sport
- The biggest category in this expenditure is on attendance at events at €760 million.
