The Ladies Gaelic Football Association has launched a new Administrator Pathway – aimed at supporting volunteer administrators.
The Pathway provides a step-by-step guide for volunteers to guide and assist them in various roles.
A key theme of the LGFA’s recently-launched Strategic Plan is ‘Supporting and Growing Volunteers’ and the launch of the new Administrator Pathway will play a key role in this regard.
Volunteers are at the heart of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and ensuring highly-motivated, passionate and supported volunteer base is present is a key priority in the LGFA strategy.
Pathways for coaches, players and match officials are already present but this is the first pathway of its kind for administrators of all units, whether they’re already in roles or planning to occupy them.
It is a self-led development initiative aimed at supporting volunteer administrators at their specific level, thereby enabling them to receive support at a time when they need it, and specific to their role.
This education at club, county, provincial and national levels aims to increase an administrator’s capacity to undertake his/her role and build confidence in the person’s ability to fulfil that role.
“Administrators have, and always will, play a vital part in the development and delivery of Ladies Gaelic Football,” said LGFA President Micheál Naughton.
“Without them, our sport would not be where it is today and most community activities and events would struggle to operate smoothly. In short, volunteers are critical to our sport.”
“Success doesn’t just happen on the pitch. It is the result of strong teamwork off the pitch, too, and effective administrators are central to all activities of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association across club, county, provincial and national levels.”
“This is a very exciting and essential development initiative for our Association. To support our administrators, this programme of learning is designed to offer a pathway, setting them on their volunteering journey and discovering new opportunities to become change-makers in their communities.”
“The suite of resources is available for officers in positions already or potential future administrators to support succession planning. The pathway is designed to assist administrators with education specific to their role and to complete in their own time. Our new Strategic Plan 2024 – 2029 has ambitious targets and it will be imperative that we bring this to life through actions like this new pathway.”
Sport for Business will host its annual Women in Sport Conference in Dublin on Thursday morning, November 28th. This is one of many events planned for the remainder of 2024.
