Munster Rugby is likely to consolidate its training facilities at a single venue within the next few years, bringing to an end the current dual presence at University of Limerick and Cork Institute of Technology.
Those two locations as well as the Limerick institute of Technology are reported this morning to have made proposals to provide a fully hosted base for the provincial teams though any final decision will not be taken lightly given the ‘tribal’ nature of support from the two strongholds of the sport in the province.
The move would follow Leinster Rugby’s establishment of its own base at UCD this year.  Leinster’s administration team moved to the Belfield campus in March and the team are already building collaborations in areas of high performance science with the UCD Institute of Sport and Health; in bioengineering and sensor technology.
