It’s a massive night for Northern Ireland football tonight as the Senior Women’s team look to create history by booking a place at UEFA Women’s Euro 2022.

Following a 2-1 win in the first leg of their playoff away to Ukraine on Friday night, they are closer than they have ever been to the biggest stage of all.

Ukraine emerged from the Republic of Ireland’s group costing Vera Pauw’s team a place in their stead with a 1-0 win in Ukraine at the end of the group stage.

It will be a nervous night at Seaview where the NI team play their matches.

The match will be televised live on BBC 2 Northern Ireland with former international Nicola McCarthy a presenter at pitchside. This will be the teams first appearance on the BBC.

Thomas Kane and former Northern Ireland international, Gail Redmond, will be in the commentary box with Stephen Watson presenting and ex-Northern Ireland defender, Stephen Craigan, with former Scotland international manager, Shelley Kerr, providing analysis.

It will be bittersweet for the Republic of Ireland team to watch but would be great to get green shirts playing at the tournament which will take place in England in the summer of 2022.

Electric Ireland are one of the main sponsors of Women’s football in Northern ireland.
