
The Awards are Irish Radio’s equivalent of the Oscars and are keenly competed for across a range of different categories.
In sport, it was a stellar night for Off The Ball who took a full podium of Gold, Silver and Bronze in the Sports programme – Full-Service category. Off the Ball Live took Gold followed by the regular Off The Ball Show and then Team 33.
On top of this Nathan Murphy took Gold as the Sports Broadcaster of the Year with Máire Treasa Ní Cheallagh taking Silver and Darren Frehill from RTÉ Sport taking the Bronze.
At local and regional level Cork’s 96FM secured Gold for The Score while Carlow Rising on KCLR took Silver and Now That’s what I call Sport on 98FM in Dublin securing the Bronze.
In terms of the Sports Story of the Year Today FM took the top spot with From Russia With Love on the FIFA World Cup while Newstalk took silver and bronze for Declan Rice – A Tragedy in Three Acts and Painkillers in Irish Sport.
