It will be a very Olympic themed Late Late Show tonight to send the series off on its summer holidays and the athletes to Tokyo with the best wishes of the nation ringing in their ears.
Katie Taylor will speak to Ryan Tubridy for her first in-depth Late Late Show interview since turning professional five years ago. She is Ireland’s most recent Gold medal winner, from London in 2012, and that conversation will lead into a wider chat about those who are looking to follow in her footsteps.
Team Ireland athletes including Natalya Coyle, Brendan Irvine, Nhat Hguyen, Aoife Cooke, and Rhys McClenaghan will discuss their journey to the Olympics.
Trica Heberle, Chef de Mission Team Ireland, and Peter Sherrard, CEO of the Olympic Federation of Ireland, will also be in the studio to discuss the unprecedented hurdles faced to get to the Olympic Games this year.
The sporting theme will round out with Sonia O’Sullivan joining the show from her new base in Oregon to discuss the Silver medal she won in Sydney 21 years ago.
RTÉ and the Olympic Federation of Ireland are among more than 250+ members of the Sport for Business network of sporting and business organisations working together across a number of key areas.
