We are seven days away from the General election and on Monday night Premier Sports will host a live televised debate featuring the spokespersons on sport across four of the major parties.

Thomas Byrne is the man in position as the Minister for Sport and will represent Fianna Fáil, Neale Richmond, Minister of State with responsibility for Financial Services will be Fine Gael’s spokesperson, as will Shane O’Brien for Sinn Féin and Darragh Moriarty for Labour.

O’Brien is a local councillor and standing for election in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown while Moriarty is a Councillor on Dublin City Council and standing for election in Dublin South Central.

Matt Cooper will be in the Chair asking the questions and the show will go out at 8 PM on Monday night.

Sport has become an ever more visible and important part of Government and on Monday morning Sport for Business will carry a feature outlining the respective General Election Manifesto Commitments of each of the parties.

The debate promises to cover areas of infrastructure, equality, funding and the encouragement of physical activity.

“With so much interest and engagement in sport and so many people playing, coaching and supporting – this is a great opportunity to have a meaningful discussion,” said Premier Sports Group CEO Mickey O’Rourke.

“We look forward to hearing what the various parties have to say ahead of next week’s election.”
