We dare not whisper memories of the Celtic Tiger as we emerge from the pandemic and war in Europe but there will be flashbacks at Punchestown next week when the racecourse will host a custom-built aviation reception and showroom overlooking the track to mark the launch in Ireland of the Leonardo AW109 Trekker helicopter.

The AW109 Trekker will be available to view throughout the festival at the aviation reception marquee. There will also be the launch of a new Agusta brand “representing the unique combination of heritage and forward-looking attitude at Leonardo for VIP helicopters.”

Those are the kind of product statements that we have not carried many of in the ten years of Sport for Business but would have been plentiful in the decade before and looks like they might be making a return.

“The Irish market holds vast potential in the vertical flight domain and demand for helicopters is rapidly increasing,” said John Parnell, Sales Director at Sloane Helicopters to confirm that perspective.

“We are very pleased to host the Irish launch of the AW109 Trekker and our new Agusta brand at such a unique and impressive setting as Punchestown,” added Mattia Barbarossa of Leonardo Global Sales.

“The festival presents us with an opportunity to personally meet with clients who appreciate and recognise the supremacy of the Agusta brand legacy.”

“It seems like a long time ago that we first met with Mattia and John to discuss the launch of a new helicopter range at the Punchestown Festival,” said Racecourse CEO Conor O’Neill.

“Our discussion that day highlighted that the two brands, whilst offering vastly different products, had plenty of common ground with heritage, customer experience and quality at the forefront. This in turn leads to shared clientele who seek out and recognise such qualities. It is a pleasure to host such a unique launch event at the home of Irish jump racing.”
