Shamrock Rovers have confirmed the appointment of Robbie Hedderman as the club’s Chief Executive Officer.
The announcement, made today, marks the beginning of a new era at Tallaght Stadium as the League of Ireland champions look to strengthen their long-term structure both on and off the pitch.
Hedderman steps into the role at a significant moment for the club. Following the move of former CEO John Martin into the FAI leadership team earlier this year, Rovers have been assessing how best to position themselves for sustained domestic success and deeper progress in Europe.
The CEO position is central to that ambition, with a growing emphasis on commercial development, infrastructure planning and community engagement.
In confirming Hedderman’s appointment, the club pointed to his leadership experience and his understanding of the Irish football landscape as key factors behind the move. He arrives at a time when Rovers are seeking to expand their commercial reach, enhance match-day operations and oversee continued improvements to facilities in Tallaght.
The new CEO will also work closely with the football department to support the club’s competitive goals, ensuring alignment between operations, player pathways and long-term strategic planning. His remit includes everything from sponsorship and revenue growth to supporter relations and youth development.
While his playing career took him from Tolka Rovers to Aberdeen and across the League of Ireland, with Cork City, Derry City and Shelbourne on his CV, it is Hedderman’s business trajectory over the past decade that now positions him as a significant figure in Rovers’ next phase of development.
After hanging up his boots, Hedderman transitioned quickly into the operational side of the sport, taking on roles in community development, youth structures and club administration.
Those early steps paved the way for his appointment as Commercial Director at Aberdeen FC, where he helped drive a modernisation of the club’s commercial operations.
His remit in Scotland spanned sponsorship strategy, corporate partnerships, brand development, revenue growth and community integration—areas increasingly central to the sustainability of modern football clubs.
Rovers say they expect Hedderman to “hit the ground running,” with the club’s next phase already in motion. Early priorities for the new CEO will likely include strengthening commercial partnerships, shaping future infrastructural plans and ensuring the club remains closely connected to its expanding fanbase.
