The nominees for RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year have been announced, featuring leaders across Motorsport, Swimming, Athletics, Football, Boxing and Canoeing.

The winners will be announced on Saturday, 20 December, live on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player at 8.05 pm.

Joanne Cantwell, Darragh Maloney and David Gillick will steer us through a year to remember in front of a live audience of Irish sports stars.

The eight women and four men nominated for the RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year were named on Friday, and the nominees for Team of the Year and Manager of the Year earlier this week.

RTÉ SPORT YOUNG SPORTSPERSON OF THE YEAR 2025 NOMINEES

Sean Butterly

Won World Gold Junior Men’s K1 at the ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Hungary.

Alex Dunne

Became the first Irish driver to win an F2 race, winning in Bahrain and Italy.

Patsy Joyce

Won World Boxing Bronze at 55kg weight at the World Championships in Liverpool

Conor Kelly

Crowned best under-20 400 metres runner in Europe by winning 400m Gold  at the European Athletics U20 Championships in Finland.

Roisín Ní Ríaian

A hat-trick of silvers at the World Para Swimming Championships, plus two further bronze medals.

Michael Noonan

Youngest ever scorer of a UEFA Conference League goal, scoring for Shamrock Rovers v Molde at the age of 16, as well as helping the Hoops to a League and FAI Cup double.

John Shortt

Gold-medallist in the 200m Backstroke at the European Short-Course Championships and double gold at the World Junior Championships in both the 100m and 200m Backstroke.
