Seat has launched the second year of its sponsorship of the Munster Rugby Schools Cup, basking in the glow of what is likely to be a 30% increase in new car registrations in the first two weeks of January.
The brand, owned by Volkswagen has seen similar success across Europe with a 14% rise in sales over the past year in all the major markets.
It signed up as the official car partner of Munster in 2013 and also sponsors the pre-season games at Thomond Park under the banner of the SEAT Series.
A novel initiative last year was sponsoring a SEAT Team of the Year with 15 players selected by the Munster Rugby Schools Committee based on their individual performances through the competition.
SEAT will also present a Fair Play award, which will recognise good or sporting behaviour or other actions by players, schools and officials involved in the SEAT Munster Schools Cups.
“We are delighted to be officially launching the SEAT Munster Schools Senior and Junior Cup competitions,” said Neil Dalton, Head of Marketing & Product at SEAT Ireland.
“This competition has a proud tradition and we along with our dealers throughout Munster are looking forward to another exciting season of schools rugby, and would like to wish the best of luck to all of the competing schools in this year’s competitions”.
This year’s Leinster Schools Tournaments are jointly sponsored by Bank of Ireland and Beauchamps Solicitors. Most of those games are taking place on the new Pride Sports laid pitch at Donnybrook, with first round fixtures starting on January 25th.
