Sexton ToyotaToyota Ireland has added Jonathan Sexton to its portfolio of sporting brand ambassadors.

Sexton joins Paul O’Connell, Katie Taylor, Fionnuala Britton and Micheal O’Muircheartaigh as high profile representatives of the brand.

Toyota are also the official car partner to the Dublin senior football and hurling teams as well as Cricket Ireland.

“I drive a Toyota in Paris and it’s been fantastic for me,” said Sexton when picking up his keys in Dublin. “Having the opportunity to drive the Land Cruiser while I am here in Ireland is great and I am looking forward to continuing my association with Toyota over the coming years.”

Commercial presence

Earlier this year Sexton signed on as a brand ambassador with Aer Lingus and is clearly keen to maintain his commercial presence in Ireland as he draws to the end of his first year playing for Racing Metro in Paris.

His contract was for two years and it was reported to have more than doubled what he was earning at Leinster in 2012/13.

Whether the new money coming into the IRFU as a result of the European deal will strengthen their hand in terms of negotiation next year remains to be seen, but Sexton and his team are certainly not allowing his absence for club matches to deflect from his profile at home.

Commitment

“We are really thrilled that Jonathan, who already drives Toyota in France, has re-affirmed his satisfaction and commitment to the brand by choosing to drive Toyota during his time here in Ireland,” said Steve Tormey, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Ireland.

“Toyota’s partnership with and support of great Irish sports personalities is already well established and we look forward to Jonathan being part of this family.”

We are pleased to report that Toyota Ireland also became the latest member of the Sport for Business Community this week.
