On the eve of taking part in the US Masters, Shane Lowry has signed a new three-year partnership with Irish technology company Wayflyer.

As part of the partnership, Lowry will wear the Wayflyer logo on the left chest position of his golf apparel, in addition to hosting a variety of corporate golf and promotional events for Wayflyer’s growing client and partner base across the U.S, Europe and Asia.

Lowry, winner of the 2019 Open Championship and who made his Ryder Cup debut for Europe last September, is a multiple European Tour and PGA Tour winner and one of Ireland’s most highly respected and popular global sports personalities.

He has been a keen ambassador for Irish brands including Bank of Ireland, Teneo, Kingspan and Immedis and certainly provides personality to match the profile.

In the past year alone, Wayflyer has closed a Series B round of $150m, seeing it valued at $1.6bn, making it Ireland’s sixth ever unicorn.

Lowry was an investor in this funding round, alongside a range of venture capital firms. The company has grown from 40 to 300 over the course of the past 15 months and has expanded into a range of new markets globally, including Spain and the Netherlands.

“I take huge pride in flying the flag for Ireland everywhere I go to compete around the world,” said Lowry.

“Throughout my career, I’ve been very fortunate to partner with many Irish companies and brands that have achieved global success.”

“This partnership with Wayflyer is particularly exciting for me, as it is another truly astonishing Irish success story, featuring a young, talented and committed workforce achieving extraordinary things on the world stage.”

“The entire Wayflyer team is so excited that Shane has come on board as our global brand ambassador, and his support will be incredibly valuable as we continue to grow across the world and enter new markets,” added Jack Pierse, co-founder and chief financial officer.

“Shane’s commitment to his sport, his hard-working attitude and occasional Irish cheekiness mirror what we stand for at Wayflyer – he’s the ideal partner for us.”

“Our clients and colleagues can look forward to many exciting events with Shane in the future and we wish him the very best of luck at this week’s iconic Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia where he will wear the Wayflyer logo for the first time.”
