The start of a new year is a time for laying out hopes and ambitions for the next 12 months and at Sport for Business we believe in sharing what we will be bringing to our members during what we believe will be a a year to remember.

We have an exciting number of projects currently being developed as well as events that will help bring the worlds of sport and business closer together than has ever been the case.

Here are some of the highlights we are working on…

2016 – A Sporting Year to Savour

Later this week we will announce details of an invitation event to be held on January 28th bringing together some of the key people behind key sporting events of the year ahead.  We will be talking about what will make those events special for brands and fans before the participants cross the white lines of competition.

The Irish Sponsorship Summit – February 25th

Bigger and better than ever before Sport for Business is proud to be a partner of the 2016 Irish Sponsorship Summit taking place at Croke Park at the end of February.  A truly global cast of experts will provide fresh thinking on how sponsorship matters in 2016.  In advance we will also be building up to the event with a series of special video interviews with key players and conducted by a special interviewer that will be familiar to you but in a different light.

Young Leadership

We have brought together a special group of Young Leaders who met for the first time just before Christmas and have started to plan for a series of initiatives and events that will help to bridge the gaps that exist for those wishing to break into the commercial world of sport as well as those looking to advance their careers through expanding their networks.  Our aim is to have our first event in this space in March of 2016.

Sport and the General Election

We know that a General Election will be held in early 2016.  Once a date has been set Sport for Business will host an event bringing together the spokespersons on sport from each of the main political parties to discuss issues which will be critical to sport and wellbeing over the next five years.

A new spotlight on sponsorship across all areas

In February we will be involved in the launch of a new initiative bringing together the various forms of sponsorship that matter to brands, from sport and the arts to charity, media and business events.  Our community of business leaders is interested in reaching out to consumers and stakeholders in a variety of means and though multiple channels.  This new venture will assist them to make informed decisions about the vital ways in which sponsorship can make that happen to best effect.

Women and Sport

We live in an era where equality has come of age.  Our Sport for Business Women’s Sport Group will convene early this year to look at ways in which that reality can be expressed in sport.  We will continue to highlight areas where sponsorship and commercial partnership with Women’s Sport can deliver real benefit to brands and also continue to advocate for improvements in the weight given to a better balance in leadership within sport.

Sport and Technology

2016 will see a massive further shift in the symbiotic relationship between sport and technology.  Major global events will fuel the explosion of interest in how we view sport and analyse its impact from elite through to personal level.  We are working with an exciting group of partners to bring a very special event in this space to Dublin in October 2016.

Sport and Tourism

Sport for Business has been able to draw together a group of leaders from across the sports community at national level, promoters of key global events and tourism professionals involved in bringing and hosting visitors to Ireland.  We know that Ireland punches above its weight in terms of sporting performance on the field of play.  In 2016 we want to bring into clearer focus how that excellence can be delivered in terms of a wide economic benefit for the country as a whole.

Sport for Business Experience

This year we will launch a new service highlighting the power of sport as a bonding experience for workplace teams and valuable stakeholders to a new level.  We are working on one key event for the summer of 2016 as well as bringing together a number of special packages from Sport for Business members that you may never have previously considered.

Sport for Business Performance

How can the lessons of sport be applied to your key business teams.  Later this year we will reveal a new partnership of experts in the area of performance to get the best results from your key teams.

Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing Partnership

We are excited to be part of this new approach to sport being brought to life by Dublin City Council in 2016.  Our work will reach out to those who live, work, play in and visit the City and the aim will be to create not only National but European levels of excellence in delivery and planning on how sport can play an essential role in the heart of a great city.

News and Analysis

We will continue our Daily News Digest covering all the areas that matter most in the crossing point between Sport and Business in Ireland.  Our membership which now stands at over 140 organisations at the highest level of Ireland’s sporting and business life will have full access to all we publish and host.  We will also be changing the way we look this year, using the latest in digital technology to enhance the ways in which we can help you to be the best at what you do.
