17 – The number of Armagh County Football Championships won in the past 18 years by Crossmaglen. They added the latest with a 0-17 to 0-08 win over St Patrick’s.

6 – The number of Irish boxers through to what team manager Billy Walsh describes as ‘the business end of the World Boxing Championships in Baku. Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlon, Joe Ward and Jason Quigley are through to the last 16 while Sean McComb and Tommy McCarthy are one round further back.  The action continues in Kazakhstan through this week.

7 – Martyn Irvine returned to competitive action on the cycling track at the weekend, seven months after breaking his leg following claiming World Championship Gold.  The fire within has not been dimmed as he returns from the Netherlands with a European Championship bronze in the event he is focused on for the year ahead, the Omnium.

113,400 – The prize money in pounds sterling won by Royal Diamond on Champions’ Day at Ascot on Saturday.  The 20/1 winner is trained and was ridden by Irish based Johnny Murtagh who was also the top jockey at Royal Ascot this year, and is clearly still going strong on all fronts at the age of 43.

74 – The number of points on the board of the final Bledisloe Cup match of the series between New Zealand and Australia.  The All Blacks came through 41-33, making it a 3-0 series win.  Both sides now head north for European tours and will star at the Aviva Stadium in November.
