Today is the last day to book your place on this week’s Major European Summit on Sports Tourism taking place at Thomond Stadium in Limerick on Thursday and Friday.
The event is being sponsored by Shannon Airport which has been a key player in bringing international sporting events to the Mid West region and the line up of speakers over the two days is impressive.
Richard Hills, the man in charge of the Ryder Cup will be joined on the opening day by Paul Smith who will discuss the Rugby World Cup being held in England later this year, Gary Verity on the Grand Depart of the Tour de France, David Grevemberg on how the Commonwealth Games worked so well for Glasgow and Noel Mooney of UEFA on the new model for the European Championships which Ireland will benefit from in five years time by hosting four major matches.
The winners of the European Sport Tourism Awards will be revealed at King John’s Castle on Thursday night and Friday will be dominated by industry expert sessions on innovation, bidding, marketing and sponsorship with experts including Dave Conway from the National Sports Campus Development Authority, Jane McDaid from Thinkhouse, Jeremy Brinkworth from Rugby World Cup and Rob Hartnett from Sport for Business.
Sport for Business will be carrying live updates from certain of the key sessions throughout the two days but there is really no substitute for being there and we hope you will join us in the flesh for a look at an area which Ireland can be a leader in on a global stage.
