We like listening to podcasts at Sport for Business and every now and again we come across an episode that we feel will be of real interest to our members.

Each Thursday we will highlight one such episode that might be of interest when you are out for a walk, on your way home or looking for something that will make you think.

They will mostly be around and about the business of sport, they will come from all over the world and while if you are a podcast aficionado you may have heard them already, it is still something that is of value to those who haven’t.

This week we stay local and highlight an interview with Dublin GAA star and co-founder of Legacy Communications Bernard Brogan on the Newstalk Life and Leadership podcast.

Bobby Kerr is the man on the other side of the table for the interview that takes place in the gym at St Oliver Plunketts Eoghan Rua, the club that played a big part in Brogans’ formation as a player and a man.

The story goes from his childhood through the breakthrough years, the All Ireland’s and the gradual easing out of the spotlight, not comfortably.

Then it moves on to the business world and the importance of culture in any group. “Culture is about having a relationship or a bond built up that when times are hard, you’ll back each other up and go the extra mile and you’ll do the late hours and you’ll cover the person that is sick or has a big project and we need to work late, and that’s why you invest in culture so that people will come together when needed.”

It goes beyond what we might have heard from Bernard in the bubble of being a player. Well worth a listen.
