It’s time to look forward and that is what we are going to do with Sport for Business members and guests at our first major event of 2022.

Our event will take place online between 10 am and 12 Noon on Thursday, January 20th, with the virtual doors open at 0930.

We will be joined by a host of sporting and business leaders to look ahead, with confidence to the events and the partnerships that will bring sport to life in the next 12 months.

10:10 Back to Stadia?

It is surely a case of when rather than if and we will be joined by the GAA’s Commercial Director and Stadium Directo at Croke Park, Peter McKenna to look forward to a first uninterrupted summer of Gaelic Games, and one or two concerts as well.

10:30 Olympic Bound

She has secured qualification and will be heading to Beijing in the coming weeks to be part of Team Ireland at the Winter Olympics.  Elsa Desmond is Ireland’s only international Luge competitor, a qualified doctor and she will be giving us an insight into the Winter Games.

10:40 Bringing Sport to our screens

We will be joined by Declan McBennett, Head of Sport at RTÉ to look ahead to the biggest events taking place this year from the Guinness Six Nations in February to the FIFA World Cup.  Sport represented seven of the top ten TV events of 2021 and we continue to tune in like never before.

11:00 Bringing Trends to your Attention

Kelli O’Keeffe and a strong team from Teneo will take us on a tour of information yet to be revealed from the Teneo Sport and Sponsorship Sentiment Index that gathered crucial information during December.  They will point us in the direction of where the public and the sector is heading in terms of participation, technology, Covid, women in sport and the environment.  This is always a fascinating and instructive session.

11:30 Getting Active

The National Fitness Games are coming to Dublin for the first time in April and Sport for Business is involved in the creation of a corporate event for Ireland’s fittest and most gym-ready companies.  We will be joined by the organising team to look ahead.

11:40 Raising the Bar on esports

Stuart Dempsey, the creator of Legion eSports will join us for a look into what is coming our way with regard to eSports.  It is already attracting higher viewership, partnership and engagement than many of the traditional sports we hold in higher regard.  This is likely to be a significant wake-up call.

All those who join us will also get a copy of our Annual Sporting Year Ahead Guide, packed with all the key dates you will need and data from the Teneo Sport and Sponsorship Sentiment Index.

Unfortunately, it is still a little early to host an in-person gathering for the sector but we will do that as part of our next Major events, the Sport for Social Good Conference in February and the Women in Sport Conference in March.

For now, though here is the registration form for The Sporting Year Ahead.
