The partnership with Athletics Ireland is another boost for homelessness charities with the Dublin Simon Community being added to the mix through Virgin Media staff running for the charity to raise a sum of €10,000.

eir has been one main sponsor to pioneer this blend of staff motivation and charity giving with hundreds of staff members taking part in the Barrington’s Run in Limerick to raise money for Special Olympics.

Virgin Media and Irish SportThe route will start at Custom House Quay and takes in the IFSC, Grand Canal Dock and the City Quays over distance of 10K.

Virgin Media will provide all runners taking part with a brand new red running top to be worn on the night along with numerous other goodies.  This should make for dramatic imagery that will be very much on brand.

There is no indication yet as to whether Richard Branson or Usain Bolt, both of whom have featured regularly in Virgin Media advertising will be over for the event.

Entries are open now for the race at www.virginmedia.ie/nightrun and will remain so until Friday May 18th.

“Dublin Simon Community are delighted to collaborate with Virgin Media as the Charity Partner for their inaugural Night Run,” said Sam McGuinness speaking for the charity.

“As we continue to face a rising tide of homelessness with increasing numbers of people, families and children coming to our doors for help at a frightening rate, the kindness of our supporters means that we can provide outreach, prevention, high support accommodation, housing, treatment and support services, giving people hope during this time of great uncertainty.”
