Vodafone is bringing its sponsorship of Triathlon Ireland and the Dublin City triathlon to life by having no less than 100 staff competing in Sunday’s events.  Last year the number was 80 but such was the demand that staff will now make up 10% of the overall participants.
15 will compete in the full Olympic distance event, the swimming of which will take place in the river Liffey, and the cycling and running elements around the Phoenix Park.
The rest will be taking part as teams in the Super Sprint relay which includes a 600 metre swim, 16km cycle and a 4km run.
“We are making our support of the Dublin City event into a real employee and family day,” said Vodafone Enterprise Director Anne O’Leary speaking to the Irish Independent this week.
“We are really trying to improve the wellbeing of our staff.  We want employees who are happier, healthier and more motivated, and we want to foster a real team spirit.  Triathlon is a big part of that.”
Sunday’s event will also contribute points towards the Vodafone National Series for elite performers.
The company will be well branded through the day with a Vodafone bike bottle, running gilet and nylon gym bag being given to each competitor.
