It’s not quite the right time of year and it didn’t have the buzz that it normally would but the 39th VHi Women’s Mini Marathon took place over the weekend and it still brought tens of thousands of women onto streets and into parks around the country to do their run for their own physical and mental wellbeing and to raise money for countless charities.
We can only hope this will be the end of the Covid disruption to regular landmark events and that the party atmosphere of the June Bank Holiday weekend can be revived next year for the 40th anniversary.
Minister of State for Special Education and Inclusion, Josepha Madigan TD, was among those who ran (pictured above, second right).
Participants were helped by the brand new Official Event App that was developed to support those on their 10km route along with receiving official race packs that included a t-shirt, the 2021 commemorative medal, a finish line and neck buff.
Vhi Refuel Stations visited various parts of the country through the day to support and fuel Vhi Virtual Women’s Mini participants as they completed their 10km.
Below are a selection of the social media posts celebrating achievements
Congratulations to all of our fabulous participants who completed their 10K today !! ?
Your medal is a reminder of all your hard work over the last few months! Everyone should be very proud of what they have achieved today! ?

Finished a sub 1 hour 10k despite a trip over a tree at 7k and subsequent broken ribs. Got cleared to fly out on holidays later in the week though. Now to put the feet up. @VhiWMM #VhiWMM pic.twitter.com/cE44UfC488
