The image of rugby fans may be more of drinking pints of Guinness or Heineken but an Australian wine brand is looking to change that from February 1st.
Wolf Blass have enlisted the help of Brent Pope to launch a new limited edition yellow label Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay bottles.
There will be fifteen different labels on the wines featuring each of the different positions on a rugby team from Full Back through to Loosehead Prop.
It’s an interesting mix of the psychology of collectibles with the mixed message of having fifteen empty wine bottle knocking around the house but we can see the appeal of rugby fans reaching for a bottle and having their eye caught by rugby imagery on the label.
Wolf Blass has previously had sponsorship arrangements with both Leinster Rugby and the British and Irish Lions.
