Irish Greyhound DerbyTV Coverage of the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby is to double in 2016 with an agreement signed yesterday between RTÉ and the Irish Greyhound Board.

There will be live coverage of both the Semi Finals and Final on successive Saturday nights in September, the first time that all three of the closing races in what is Europe’s richest greyhound race will be shown live.

The broadcast will be shown live from Shelbourne Park on RTE2 television, and online on RTÉ Player and RTÉ.ie. The two 90 minute programmes will transmit on Saturday 12th & Saturday 17th September.

“The calibre of competitors in the Derby is such that the interest in the Semi-Finals is often as high as the Final and this new agreement will ensure that fans won’t miss any of the action.”

“The BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby captures the imaginations of racing fans across Ireland, the UK and indeed the World,” said Patrick Flynn, Sales, Commercial & Operations Manager at Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium.

“While nothing can match being here on the night, this new agreement will allow tens of thousands more to be part of the excitement on both Semi-Final and Final nights.”
