Suzanne Eade continues to exercise substantial influence over one of Ireland’s most important sporting industries as Chief Executive of Horse Racing Ireland.

Her responsibilities encompass racecourse operations, media rights, commercial partnerships, prize money, industry development and the long-term sustainability of a sector that supports employment and economic activity across the country.

During 2026, she has been closely associated with plans for the National Equine Campus, an ambitious project designed to strengthen education, training, welfare and professional development across the racing industry.

The initiative reflects a broader approach to leadership that recognises the importance of developing the people and infrastructure supporting racing alongside its competitive and commercial success.

Eade also operates within a demanding environment of public funding scrutiny, regulatory expectations and changing audience behaviour.

Her ability to balance the competing interests of owners, trainers, racecourses, employees, commercial partners and the wider public makes her one of the country’s most consequential sporting leaders.

This is the 14th year we have listed 50 Women of Influence in Irish Sport. We will add new names daily from now until early December.

We have an open nomination process, and you can nominate potential additions until our closing date of November 10th, 2026.

Nominations are open here.

Our definition of influence is broad and includes those making a difference in how sport is governed, managed, and brought to life. This year’s list will include CEO’s, leaders, founders, coaches, storytellers and more. To shine a light on those who may not be as familiar, we deliberately exclude those who are still active players in their sport.

We’ll host our Annual Women in Sport Conference at Lidl HQ on Tuesday, December 1st, featuring a range of national and international speakers and a room full of inspiring guests.

To reserve your place, you can book a ticket below.
