Independent sports marketing agency 53Six has announced the appointment of Colm Halpin as its Creative Director. This strengthens the agency’s ability to deliver cutting-edge creative campaigns for major rights holders and brands in sport in the UK and Ireland.
Halpin brings over ten years of experience in advertising and content creation, having worked with some of Ireland’s most prominent brands in leading agencies.
Most recently, he was a Creative at Droga5 Dublin, where he played a key role in delivering digital and social campaigns for clients including Aer Lingus, AIB, Hunky Dorys, Woodies, and BASF.
With a wide-ranging skill set, Halpin is a hands-on creative with a deep understanding of brand storytelling.
“Since Tom and I set up 53Six, our core principle has been to create a culture and environment where our team and clients can express themselves,” said Marcus McDonnell, Head of Marketing Services at 53Six.
“Having Colm join as someone who can harness and elevate our creativity is the perfect fit.”
“He brings fantastic credentials, having evolved from client services into an incredibly talented, hands-on creative. But beyond his skills, what stands out most is his approach, collaborative nature and positive mindset.”
“We’ve grown significantly in recent years, and bringing in someone like Colm positions us for the next stage. He will oversee all creative output, ensuring we continue to push boundaries for our clients. His arrival strengthens our structure, with me leading Marketing Services, Tom Fox overseeing Strategy and our Data product 53Six Connect, and Colm driving Creative. We’re excited for what’s ahead.”
“Joining 53Six is a hugely exciting opportunity for me,” added Halpin.
“Much of my desire to work in advertising was born the day I saw Eric Cantona pop his collar and bid ‘Au Revoir’ to the devil before drilling a football through his chest in that classic Nike ad, so joining 53Six as Creative Director fulfills a long-held ambition of mine to combine a passion for all things sport with creativity and storytelling,” said Halpin.
“The work 53Six has done across major sports brands and rights holders speaks for itself, and I can’t wait to help build on that, push the creative even further, and collaborate with such a talented team and client base.”
53Six works with major rights holders such as the FAI, Leinster Rugby, Racing TV, World Rugby, the GAA, the Jacksonville Jaguars and UEFA and with brands including Sports Direct, Goodfellas, SPAR, Mace, and Omniplex Cinemas.
