The Sporting Year Ahead is one of our major events of the year, gathering leaders from across sport and business to look forward with anticipation.  Throughout the year we will highlight the events of note taking place each month so that you can stay ahead of the game.

The annual event will take place again in January 2026 in partnership with Teneo.

Sport Ireland Women in Sport Week

March 3rd to 9th

A week long focus on visibility, leadership, governance, participation and more…

SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Men’s Premier Division

March 3rd, 8th, 14th and 28th

There are four full rounds of action in March with one game each round televised live and free to air on Virgin Media

European Indoor Athletics Championships

March 6th to 9th

Ireland is sending potentially its strongest ever team to Appeldoorn in the Netherlands.

Guinness Men’s Six Nations Final Rounds

March 8th and 15th

Ireland take on France at the Aviva Stadium and then Italy in the Stadio Olimpico in Rome

Special Olympics Winter Games

March 8th to 18th

Ireland has teams in Downhill Skiing and Floorball heading for the Games in Torino

SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Women’s Premier Division

March 8th to 11th October

The SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier League kicks off the new season on Saturday March 8th

Cheltenham Festival

March 11th to 14th

Will Galopin Des Champs become the first Irish Three-time winner since Arkle in the Cheltenham Gold Cup?

World Athletics Indoor Championships

March 21st to 23rd

Saturday, March 22nd at Strand Hotel in Limerick

Guinness Women’s Six Nations Rugby

March 22nd to April 26th

Third place in last year’s tournament secured a place at the World Cup. Ireland face France and England on March 22nd in Belfast and on April 12th in Cork, and are away to Scotland, Wales and Italy.

Allianz League Finals

March 29th and 30th

The first football finals to be determined using the new rules will make this a season to capture plenty of attention.
