Dunshaughlin GAAGrassroots Wednesday on Sport for Business

Ireland has 12,000 sports clubs ranging in size from minor to major but all of them looking to introduce sport to their particular community.

Many will be applying for grants under the current capital grant scheme but that will get most only part way towards fulfilling whatever ambition they have to build or adapt facilities to match the general volunteer enthusiasm on which the clubs are founded.

Money to realise those dreams is sought every day through commercial partnerships with local business, and mostly through a call on the financial as well as the general support of the community.

Fundraising is all about telling the right story, and appealing to individuals with a case that will mean something to them.

The story though needs to be told on a platform that reaches beyond the ability of committee members to inspire with their own passion for the project. It needs to be shared beyond the parish boundary and reach out to the wider network who may be willing to help their old town or club.

Dunshaughlin GAA club in County Meath is one club that understands the power of getting that message out there. They have created the video below which acts as a ‘call to action’ for its own local community, focusing on the future and the help they need to deliver it.
