Athletics Ireland has named HyGo Irish Still Spring Water as its new Official Hydration Partner, giving the Tipperary-based brand a year-round platform across elite competition, club athletics and mass-participation running.

Produced by Borrisoleigh Bottling Ltd, HyGo will be visible throughout Athletics Ireland’s programme of events, publications and digital communications, reaching more than 75,000 registered members as well as the wider recreational running community.

The partnership will include the creation of a dedicated HyGo Hydration Hub on the Athletics Ireland website, educational content focused on hydration, product sampling, event activation and integrated branding across the governing body’s communications channels.

No financial value or duration has been disclosed.

The agreement fills a commercial category that Athletics Ireland had recently listed as available and gives HyGo access to one of the broadest participation footprints in Irish sport. Athletics Ireland has more than 360 affiliated clubs, with its activities stretching from juvenile and community participation through to national championships and international high-performance teams.

For HyGo, the deal represents a further expansion of its investment in sport. Borrisoleigh Bottling also became an official water sponsor of Tipperary GAA earlier in 2026, giving the locally based business a strong presence within its home county. The Athletics Ireland agreement now takes the brand onto a nationwide stage and into direct contact with runners and athletes for whom hydration is a natural part of training, competition and recovery.

HyGo is available in 330ml and 500ml cartons. The packaging is made primarily using plant- and paper-based materials and is described as fully recyclable, providing a sustainability-led alternative to conventional single-use plastic water bottles.

The hydration category has previously been occupied by Change Hydrate, which became an Athletics Ireland partner in 2023 and similarly used recyclable carton packaging at events. Athletics Ireland had subsequently advertised the category as available before confirming the new HyGo agreement.

“We are delighted to partner with Athletics Ireland,” said Michael Ferncombe, Sales and Business Development Manager with Borrisoleigh Bottling Ltd.

“HyGo is all about delivering premium Irish spring water in more sustainable packaging, and this partnership provides the perfect opportunity to introduce our brand to athletes and running communities across Ireland.”

Irish 100 metres champion Ciara Neville also has a personal connection with the partnership through her mother’s links to the Borrisoleigh area.

“Hydration is a vital part of training, recovery and performance, so it’s fantastic to see an Irish brand like HyGo supporting athletics in this way,” she said.

“It’s especially nice for me personally to see a business with such strong connections to Borrisoleigh partnering with Athletics Ireland.”

Athletics Ireland Chief Executive Hamish Adams said the agreement reflected an alignment around quality, sustainability and community.

“Supporting athletes goes beyond competition, and hydration is fundamental to health, participation and performance at every level of our sport,” he said.

“We look forward to building a successful partnership that benefits our members, clubs and events nationwide.”

The announcement comes ahead of a busy period for Irish athletics, including the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham from August 10th to 16th, where Ireland will be represented by a 47-strong team.

For Athletics Ireland, the agreement adds another active product and service category to a partner portfolio that includes 123.ie, adidas, McCabes Pharmacy, Biofreeze, A&L Goodbody and Eventmaster.

For HyGo, it offers both national visibility and a credible opportunity for product trials. Water is not merely being branded around the sport; it will be placed directly in participants’ hands at the point where the product is most relevant.

That combination of broad reach, practical activation and a clear sustainability story makes the partnership a commercially natural fit for both sides.
