Irish FA Sport and BusinessEducation Monday on Sport for Business

Two weeks ago we wrote here about a programme run by the Northern Irish Football Association about introducing the principle of business to schools through the medium of sporting projects.

The Irish FA’s Enterprise Programme ran across 23 schools and encouraged pupils to put together business ideas based around sport which were then to be pitched to a panel of business judges.

The course took in elements of marketing, sales and planning that will be vital for kids coming out into a workplace environment that is based more on self starting and entrepreneurship than ever before.

Now we can reveal the impact of the course with a survey published that shows 73% of those who took part now having a strong understanding of the principle of business.

The same question before the course drew a 12% positive figure.

As we have seen in recent weeks in science and in business, sport has an ability to teach younger audiences in a language and against a background that is easily understood.

For business education and business coaching, sport should be a first port of call for anyone looking to deliver messages that will be heard and registered.
