Dublin fans are invited to submit questions via the Cadbury GAA Facebook page and Macauley will answer them in a video to be released through the page ahead of the Dublin Donegal All Ireland semi final.
The competition element invites fans of all counties to submit pictures and videos, supported by 200 words on why they are Ireland’s ultimate GAA fan.
It’s a simple competition mechanic but will depend on sharing among fans for enough momentum to produce the desired results. The challenge with competitions where there is a high value prize like this is that people are less inclined to share and thereby introduce more competition and lessen their own chances of winning.
It will be interesting to see how many entries the competition draws in.
It will achieve one objective at least by inviting you to factor a Cadbury GAA Moro bar into the story of why you are such a great fan.
The GAA Bar launched earlier this year and according to sources has been a great success for all parties. The bar is available for sale only through the GAA partner retailers of Centra and Supervalu, both sponsors of the All Ireland Hurling and Football Championships respectively.
It’s another way in which the ties that bind fellow sponsors can be leveraged in a smart way that delivers revenue as well as another reason to renew the next time a sponsorship contract is negotiated.
