The Shannon Airport European Sport Tourism Summit is returning to Limerick on May 14th and 15th and Sport for Business is to be an official online media partner.
Last year’s inaugural event brought together leaders from across the world and positioned Ireland as a major player in the rapidly growing sports tourism sector.
Over the coming weeks we will be highlighting areas of sports tourism that can have a material impact on Irish sport and business. We are proud to do so with our official partner in Sports Tourism, Aer Lingus.
Over the course of the event there will be speakers from IMG, Rugby World Cup 2015, UK Sport, the Ryder Cup and many more that are setting the agenda for international sports tourism market that is now estimated to be worth as much as €600 billion on a global basis.
In Ireland alone the value of golf tourism spending in 2012 was estimated by Failte Ireland as in excess of €200 million.
