Triathlon Ireland has announced a new sponsor on the same day as it revealed it will be sending a team of three competitors to the European Olympic Games in Baku this summer.
Tenerife Top Training is to become the Official Warm Weather Training Venue of Triathlon Ireland though to 2018. The training centre features a 400 metre running track, heated outdoor 25m and 50m swimming pools, a high-tech swim flume, indoor gym and is set at the foot of Mount Teide making for some excellent cycling and running routes.
“While we have access to superb training facilities and locations at home,” said Stephen Delaney, Triathlon Ireland’s National Development Coach, “we are always at the mercy of the climate.”
“The Tenerife Top Training facility provides us with the opportunity to avail of consistent conditions in which to prepare for early season races and to work with development athletes as they build towards key national and international races.”
“We’re proud to be partnering with Triathlon Ireland and playing a part in the development and promotion of the sport in Ireland,” said Tenerife Top Training’s Marketing Manager, Holger Sowa.
“This is something great for us and we are looking forward to welcoming some of Ireland’s top triathletes to our facility.”
The Irish team in Baku will be led by Aileen Reid bidding to confirm her position in the World’s Top 10 and she will be joined by Russell White and Aaron O’Brien in the Men’s event.
