Rob Hartnett was interviewed alongside Martin Breheny of the Irish Independent on Today FM’s Last Word programme on Friday night and a number of discussions over the weekend suggest there is a real appetite among those who would have benefitted making sure there is a more structured way to ensure that such an event, which had generated as much as €30 million in 2014 and 2012, is not lost again.
Whether anything can happen in time to reverse the decision taken for 2016 is perhaps unlikely but with so much of the risk on the shoulders of only one of the beneficiaries, there really must be a better way.
Watch this space during the week and let’s see whether there is something that can be done.
