Land Rover is to invest €450,000 in sponsorship of TV3’s autumn coverage of the Rugby World Cup, according to a report in the Sunday Independent.
The high end auto brand, part of the Jaguar Land Rover Group is also a main partner of the tournament itself and will be appearing in high profile integration around the exclusive TV3 broadcast of all 48 games between September 18th and October 31st.
It has existing partnerships in sport with sailing, equestrian sport and the Invictus Games but the association with the Rugby World Cup this year is another major step up and Ireland is a key market.
The overall theme of the campaign is #WeDealInReal and it is likely that the sponsorship of the broadcast side of the games will carry that through to involvement in club and grassroots teams.
It is the latest example of the motor trade picking up substantially around sport in general and rugby in particular over the past twelve months.
On Friday Sport for Business revealed that the Windsor Motor Group was to become the official vehicle partner of Leinster Rugby from the start of this season.
RTE Coverage of last year’s FIFA World Cup was sponsored by Hyundai.
