Sportego has signed it’s first Fantasy 5 deal with an English Premier League club in West Bromwich Albion. Sport carver has been the number one free gaming download on Apple’s iTunes with it’s GAA Football game ahead of the first All Ireland semi final this weekend and Ian Madigan has been out and about launching the Fantasy Rugger game ahead of the Rugby World Cup.
All three are hoping to capture what is already a billion dollar industry in gaming aimed at mobile and based around sporting fans.
Sportego, through its FanFeud.co.uk product, is the first app developer globally to offer cash based fantasy football on individual Premier League games, available on iPhone and Android devices. The white label applications can help any club and league to enhance consumer participation, heighten brand awareness, while enabling data capture and increasing revenue potential.
The company already has game running within Rugby, GAA and the SSE Airtricity League here in Ireland. The potential value of the market can be seen by looking at some of the numbers from the Sportego website below.
Within the next two years the company has plans to grow from three to 10 employees with projected sales growth of 89% in the next three years.
“We are delighted to be working with an innovative club such as West Bromwich Albion,” said Trevor Keane the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sportego.
“The club has already shown they are very forward thinking by looking through other initiatives and we are delighted they recognise the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with their fans as well as helping to entice more into their fold,”
“As pioneers in fan engagement, West Bromwich Albion is already somewhat ahead of the game. We’re excited to help them continue to raise their club’s awareness, both in and out of the stadium through interactive offerings, helping to drive fantasy gaming in the Premier League overall.”
Sport carver’s Fans Vs Fans Gaelic Football is a development of the one produced in association with the Gaelic Players for Hurling earlier in the summer and which includes space in the stadium advertising for sponsors to position their own brand.
The success of that first foray into Gaelic Gaming could be judged by figures showing it had been played almost 50,000 times creating just short of one million viewable ad impressions.
The Fantasy Rugger game was first trialled during the RBS 6 Nations this year and a new version is now available for the Rugby World Cup. It has a more detailed approach to points scoring than many of the mainstream media based fantasy products and enables you to pick from a squad of 25 players across the competing nations through next month and October.
Fantasy Gaming will be one of the four key areas of the future of Digital Sport which Sport for Business will highlight during Digital Sport 2015 which will take place in Dublin on Friday morning, October 21st and which will be launched exclusively for members next week.
