At Sport for Business we always try to bring you smart insight and information from around the world of sport.  The BBC have compiled a detailed and educational look at the price of football which we are happy to share with you today.

There are some gems of information which will be relevant to all those involved in selling tickets, branding games and providing a match day experience that fans want more of, otherwise most of us involved in the business that is sport.

The survey reveals that the most expensive place to watch football is Arsenal where the cheapest season ticket comes in at £1,014.  That’s more than the most expensive at all bar three clubs though it does include a number of additional cup games.

Attendance at Premier League Grounds is currently running at 96% and the law of supply and demand is forcing the minimum entry price up which is a concern for those who feel the ‘regular’ fan is being priced out.  This year the average price of the cheapest Premier league ticket has nudged over £30 for the first time.

Below the top flight, the basic business principal of value is a driver of sales.  Bradford City’s season ticket is priced at £149 but that has enabled them to sell 18,000 of them this season and that guarantees match day income from your ‘captive’ audience as well.

That income includes the money earned from cups of tea which ranges at the grounds from as low as 60 pence to as much as £2.50 for those planning a trip to Anfield.
