It will be the fastest, loudest sporting event of the year. The Venture Cup offshore powerboat race was revealed yesterday as tearing up the waves from Cork and Dingle to Galway and Killybegs, Belfast and Dublin between June 11th and 18th, 2016.
The event is being likened to the Formula One of the waves and will attract a similarly glamorous global line up of competitors and spectators.
There is substantial state support behind the venture with Dublin City Council, Failte Ireland and the Departments of Tourism, Transport and Sport and Agriculture and the Marine putting their weight behind it.
It is expected that a crowd of 600,000 could come out to see the final leg in Dublin on June 18th.
