Image rights can be a contentious area between teams, individual sports stars and sponsors.  The Captain of the Kenyan national soccer team Dennis Oliech has walked out on his team in a row with the national FA over the use of his picture in a poster advertising one of its sponsors.
A local brewery used the image and insists, along with the FA, that it is part of its agreement that it can use the image of players involved in the national team.
Oliech, who plays in France with AS Auxerre insists otherwise and risks sanction from FIFA over the stance he has taken to protect his own personal commercial value.
The Kenyan FA and the player’s representatives are now thought to be negotiating a way out of the impasse but the signs are not great with at least one more of the national team threatening legal action over the reimbursement of €10,000 in travel expenses incurred by him in joining up with the National team.
