There are 100 days to go until the Rio Olympic Games and the Olympic Council of Ireland gathered a number of those already qualified athletes together in Dublin yesterday for a media briefing and a ‘getting to know you’ session.

Paddy Barnes took centre stage after his nomination to be the flag carrier at the opening ceremony.  He is bidding to become the first ever Irish athlete to win medals at three successive Games and is a man who knows his way around the media as is evidenced by his twitter biography which reads:

The two brands who have an association with the Irish team in particular so far this year are Kellogg’s and Electric Ireland.

The latter were quick to push out their new sting highlighting #ThePowerWithin campaign and focusing on the two gymnasts that have qualified Kieran Behan and Ellis Smith.  Behan made a round of media appearances yesterday and is likely once again to be a real star among the team heading to Brazil and knuckling down now to their final preparations.
