Challenger Series Spor for BusinessSport is a broad canvas and next week Sport for Business will kick off a new series looking  at the commercial challenges and opportunities that face the sports in Ireland that operate outside of the intense spotlight that shines on the big three of GAA, Rugby and Soccer.

The Challenger Series will focus on those sports which are providing an opportunity for players to emerge and compete at grassroots and elite level.  Some like Pentathlon and Gymnastics will have their profile raised by events at the Olympic Games while others including Cricket and Basketball are building solid foundations for a strong future.

We will speak to the people behind each of the sports in our Challenger series and discover what they are doing to make their sport an attractive proposition to corporate partners whether through programmes, events or innovation.

The series will shine a light in areas where many potential backers are unaware that opportunity lies.  It will generate a broader awareness of the many ways in which sport and business can work smart together.

Among the sports we will be looking at in the coming months are Basketball, Camogie, Greyhound Racing, Cricket, Gymnastics, Equestrian Sport, Olympic Handball, Pentathlon, Paralympic Sports, Wheelchair Sport, Special Olympics, Sailing, Canoeing and more.

The series will start next Friday with a behind the scenes look at our first sport…
