Ireland is set for it’s first ever Rugby World Championship Final at U20 level or above after a stunning win for the U20’s over Argentina in Manchester yesterday evening.
The side will face England in the Final on Saturday night having already beaten Grand Slam Winners Wales and New Zealand in the group stages.
Unlike the Senior Rugby World Cup teams are permitted to wear sponsored shirts in the tournament which has proved a massive boost for PwC’s partnership with the team, extended by another four years on the eve of the tournament and now paying massive dividends.
Rival firms Accenture and Deloitte are involved in the Senior Tour to South Africa and the Rugby World Cup bid process respectively but the imagery beaming around the world from Nigel Carolan’s sides march towards a first ever world Final caps both in terms of exposure and recognition within the rugby and just as importantly the developing player community.
PwC have been encouraging staff involvement in support of the team and have had success with #FutureisGreen hashtag.
The new deal also opens up a greater involvement in the developing player pathway with the hope being that this level of performance on the world stage will become normal in the years and generations to come.
We will catch up later this week with the PwC team to see what plans are in place to make the most of what will be a very special Saturday night for Irish Rugby.
