Neil CumminsNeal Cummins has been appointed as the new Head of Sport at FleishmanHillard, replacing Kevin Moore who left earlier in the summer to take up the role of Deputy Managing Director at Legacy Consultants alongside Bernard and James Brogan.

Cummins has spent the last two years as head of communications with UTV Ireland and will be joining forces again with Lydia Tierney who has been managing matters since Moore’s departure.

Before that he spent seven years working at Fleishman Hilliard so it is something of a ‘prodigal son’ story with his return to the fold.

Fleishman has a strong presence in sport with the first major opportunity for Cummins to shine coming up quickly on the first weekend in September.

The Aer Lingus College Football Classic and surrounding activities for 20,000 visiting US fans including games and a tailgate party at Trinity College will be first up on the Friday and Saturday and then it will be straight into ensuring that Centra’s role as a main sponsor of the All Ireland Hurling Championship is given top class coverage.

Mondelez, the business behind the Cadbury brand is another major account and their support of Paralympics Ireland will be another element of what promises to be a very busy first few weeks back in the new role.

Others with whom there is likely to be a sporting flavour include BT Ireland and Procter & Gamble.
