WOODEN STADIUM FOR UK
Non League English football team Forest Green Rovers are to build a 5,000 seat stadium in the South West of England constructed entirely from wood.
It will be part of a £100 million sports and green technology park if it gets planning permission. The stadium has been designed by Zaha Hadid Architechts who have been involved in the London Olympics and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

THE FUTURE OF WORKING IN SPORT
One of the interesting elements of the Sports Technology Symposium at Barcelona FC last week was the identification of seven potential new jobs coming down the line within the management of sport.
Could you see yourself filling any of the following for your own favourite sports team?
- Crowd Coach to manage the engagement with fans and truly turn them into both a powerful force for the team and advocates for the club.
- Smart Stadium Architect to turn today’s technology advances into tomorrow’s revenue streams
- Customisation Engineer. Well who else will be responsible for 3D printing Leo Messi’s successors boots to account for the fact that it started to rain during the first half?
- Bio Scientist in order to monitor the blood testing that could take place throughout the course of the season.
- Robotics Trainer both to help the human players achieve their best and train the eSports machine players to rule the virtual world.
- VR Director making sure that all the cameras are in place to bring fans right to the beating heart of the game.
- AI Director bringing it all together for the good of the team

A SPORTS TECH ACCELERATOR FOR DUBLIN?
Sport for Business has had a strong response to its call for a new Sports Accelerator for Dublin and will be meeting a number of interested parties on December 7th to explore how this might look.
We want to build a programme that will bring together early stage companies in the health and lifestyle sector with partners that can help them scale.
Could one of the ideas to emerge be a Sports Hackathon in Ireland, based around the Six Nations in Rugby, the All Ireland Finals in GAA or Qualifiers for the World Cup in Soccer? Or could one of our retail companies explore new technology that has yet to break through?

DRONE RACING SECURES BUD SPONSORSHIP
Just when you were beginning to get your head around the idea of eSports, then drone racing comes along to stake a claim on being a new sport driven by technology.
The Drone Racing League in the US has already secured TV broadcast coverage on ESPN and as of this week has signed a major sponsorship deal with Bud Light.
The sport is looking to unearth new talent through a virtual ‘try out’ meaning you don’t even have to worry, at least yet, about getting your racing drone. It’s part of the future…
