Each Friday we highlight a worthy charitable cause connected to sport so that you can perhaps lend your support or expand awareness of what is being done…

Ireland has the highest rates of cystic fibrosis in the world as well as some of the most severe types of the disease.

Sporting legends Alan Brogan and Sean Kelly are lending their support this year to an annual cycle from Malin Head in Donegal to Mizen Head in Cork which will raise funds and awareness the 1,200 people who are are living daily with cystic fibrosis here.

The cycle takes place from Thursday May 11th  to Sunday May 14th with the aim being to raise awareness and funds to help provide support and services for people with cystic fibrosis nationally.

These include support grants for people with cystic fibrosis for exercise, transplant assessment, fertility treatment and counselling, as well as research and new healthcare facilities.

This is a great opportunity for cyclists to take in the incredible scenic routes we have in Ireland and to be a part of a great event which will raise much needed funds to help support people with cystic fibrosis.
