A job in sport is what many people would see as the ideal way to make a living.  And it’s true that for those of us who have managed to carve one out it does have many rewards.

Now there is a chance for somebody to step up into a role and within a sport that will provide plenty of scope and excitement.

Basketball Ireland is seeking a new Commercial Manager, taking the place of JP Montgomery who has done a fine job and is now moving on himself.

What will the successful candidate be doing?

  • Reporting to C.E.O
  • Pro-actively sourcing potential partners
  • Managing and delivering all incumbent partners contractual rights
  • Ensuring all sponsors are integrated and achieving their business objectives
  • Developing and presenting creative and bespoke partnership proposals
  • Establishing and enhancing a Basketball Ireland presence in the market place
  • Achieving annual business objectives and revenue targets
  • Integrating commercial activity with the rest of the management team including Media and Communications operations.

Bernard O’Byrne tells us that experience in a similar role would be a big advantage and obviously a good track record as you would expect.

In terms of a skill set this is what you would have in your locker…

  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Be an effective part of a team
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

t’s a permanent full time position, based at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght and the salary is described as competitive.
