Each Friday we like to highlight an effective crossover between sport and charity, making a difference to communities up and down the country.
Axel Foley will never be forgotten in Limerick and after an event at Limerick Institute of Technology this week he will be enshrined in the Guinness Book of Records as well.
1,740 students and rugby fans came together in the shadow of Thomond Park to scrum down together in joined links of traditional scrum format that ran the length of the College’s GAA pitches.
Rosie Foley, former Irish international and Axel’s sister put the ball in and the story is told in this short video.
The details have now been sent on to the Guinness Book of Records for validation and all moneys raised have been earmarked for local charities.
